Job Summary
Coordinate, direct and perform quality assurance audits, evaluations and assessments of nuclear programs to verify compliance with regulatory requirements. Applies comprehensive knowledge of nuclear quality assurance codes and standards as they apply to engineering, plant systems and components, administrative controls, and work processes. This level is distinguished from the Nuclear Quality Specialist II by working independently on the most complex quality related activities.
At North Anna Power Station and Surry Power Station, this role may coordinate and observe the work of contracted personnel who are performing quality assurance inspections of nuclear plant systems, structures and components (SSC) to verify that work performed meets regulatory requirements, codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures. Attends leadership meetings and adjusts project plans and schedules as needed, based upon prioritization of work, with consistent focus on safety and quality. Assists the inspectors with problem identification and resolution. Develops inspection plans. Ultimately responsible for the initiation of corrective actions to address discrepancies and non-conformances identified during the performance of inspection/examination activities. Applies significant related experience and knowledge to review and interpret codes, standards, specifications, work packages and procedures for appropriate quality requirements. Dispatches and coordinates on-call and nightshift. Analyzes data, maintains records, and provides various reports such as department tracking data reports. Conducts oversight surveillances and assessments and plays an important role in audits.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
5-6+ years nuclear quality assurance related experience such as nuclear plant design or operations with a commensurate level of knowledge of nuclear processes and procedures.
Full and comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance requirements and understanding of engineering concepts, plant systems and components, administrative controls and work control processes.
Strong communication, investigation, and leadership skills.
For internal auditor roles, candidate possesses the qualifications to be certified as a Nuclear Quality Assurance Lead Auditor.
At North Anna and Surry Power Stations, for the role which coordinates inspections: Within 18 months of being in the position, must be certified at a minimum of Level II in accordance with ASME NQA-1-1994 Edition, Appendix 2A-1 requirements in at least one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Welding or Civil (including coatings).

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Special requirements:
Shall have 1 year of experience performing quality verification activities.
Quality assurance or quality control supervisors who do not possess the formal educational and experience requirements specified in this section for this position may be considered acceptable when other factors provide sufficient demonstration of required abilities. These other factors are to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and approved and documented by senior management.
The quality assurance functions are those of (a) assuring that an appropriate quality assurance program is established and effectively executed and (b) verifying, such as by checking, auditing, and inspecting, that activities affecting the safety-related functions have been correctly performed.
Specific qualification requirements for personnel performing nondestructive examination inspection and tests to verify quality and auditing are specified in ANSI/ASME NQA-1-2008 and NQA-1a-2009 [2]. NOTE: Dominion Energy commits to ASME-NQA-1-1994 for qualification requirements.
