ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The Licensed Practical Nurse performs professional nursing care under supervision for clinic patients
- Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:
- Collect and shares pertinent information with the provider
- Receives and acts on directives from the provider
- Screens patients for appropriate medical history information
- Observes, records, and reports patient condition
- Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).
- Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace them as needed.
- Communicates instruction for pre and post-procedure care.
- Performs triage for incoming patient calls.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.
- Orders, prepares, and inspects patient pre-procedure testing.
- Communicate any pre-procedure results to physician.
- Provides monitoring of patient progress between Physician or PA visits.
- Scans clinical documents into EMR.
- Ensures patient receives education as indicated by the provider.
- Manages EMR desktops of assigned providers in a timely manner.
- Create and promote a positive patient experience.
- Maintain HIPAA compliant environment.
- Maintain clean workspace
EDUCATION
- LPN Licensure from accredited school of nursing.
- BLS Certification required
EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years of experience in orthopedics, spine surgery, or pain management is preferred.
- More than 2 years’ experience as an LPN in the field of medicine.
- Must have completed advanced IV insertion training and ongoing maintenance training.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the health care field.
- General knowledge of patient care in a clinic.
- Knowledge of back-office skills.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations, and medical records procedures.
- Basic computer operating knowledge-Microsoft word and Excel
SKILLS
- Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software.
- Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professionalism when interacting with providers, co-workers, patients, family members, and the public. Ability to problem-solve.
- Experience and use of electronic medical records
- Time management skills.
- Ability to adapt to change
ABILITIES
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential patient information.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and clients.
- Ability to follow precise direction, instructions, and system protocols.
- Ability to provide friendly, timely service to all patients and/or clients with questions or concerns.
- Ability to take direction and follow through on assignments and responsibilities.
- Ability to assess client and identify medical needs/concerns and the ability to communicate this to supervisory MD or NP provider.
- Ability to triage patients

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
- Pushing, pulling, bending and stretching are required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
