The successful candidate is able to work independently, can change priorities as needed and enjoys problem-solving. The Seed Storage Lead is responsible for the overall supervision of the seed storages box and bulk. Adhering to all CFIA regulations and documentation requirements and record keeping for CFIA, supervision of staff, shipping and receiving and recording shipments.
Compensation: $24-$26 per hour

Responsibilities
- Ensure that all safety processes are carried out and Standard Operation Procedures are implemented.
- Work with CFIA in implementing seed movement protocols. CFIA record keeping and documentation.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of storage building following standard operating procedures and best practices.
- Supervise up to 10 seasonal employees and up to 3 year round.
- Operate equipment such as forklift, loader and skid steer.
- Plan and assist in maintenance and repairs on equipment, and manages the related parts inventory.
- During planting, assist in the coordination of potato supply and delivery schedules with growers and ensure the accuracy of shipping and timed delivery.
- Assist in daily monitoring potatoes in storage and taking immediate action as needed.
- Collect, record and report data required for audits and certifications
- Participate in managing special projects, budget preparation and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Post secondary education.
- Experience in the agricultural field or in seed production would be considered an asset.
- Experience in a trade, such as HVAC, welding or machining, preferred.
- Mechanically inclined with experience operating and maintaining Forklift or and other stationary or mobile equipment.
- Proven ability to lead a team through complex tasks ensuring safety is the top priority.
- Communicates appropriately with external and internal departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, responsibilities and timelines.
- Able to use, interpret and adjust ventilation and equipment settings to properly manage storage facility.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends in the peak seasons.
- Good English communication is required.
