Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. CJCP first opened in 2006 with 77 students, and is now serving a diverse population of over 1,300 students and nearly 300 faculty and staff. The mission of CJCP is to provide academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. CJCP serves its mission by offering rigorous educational programs with an emphasis on college preparation, college and career counseling, and extracurricular enrichment activities.
Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative and organizational support to the Directors at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, a dynamic and mission-driven public charter school. This role requires exceptional communication, discretion, and multitasking abilities to ensure the smooth operation of executive functions and the advancement of the school’s educational mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Executive Support
Provide direct administrative support to the Directors, including but not limited to calendar management, meeting coordination, and document preparation.
Draft, proofread, and edit correspondence, reports, presentations, and internal communications.
Prepare materials and agendas for the leadership team.
Coordinate logistics and planning for internal leadership meetings and schoolwide events.
Assist in tracking progress on strategic initiatives, school compliance reporting, and special projects.
Liaise with other departments and school campuses to ensure alignment with executive priorities.
Office & Administrative Operations
Serve as the central point of contact between the Director Team and internal/external stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and community partners.
Manage incoming communication (email, calls, mail) and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained during the course of employment, including but not limited to student and staff records, internal communications, and any proprietary or sensitive data, in accordance with FERPA, applicable privacy laws, and Charter School policy.
Support cross-departmental coordination and follow-up on action items.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Minimum 3 years of administrative or executive assistant experience (experience in education or nonprofit sector a plus).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom), Student/Staff Management systems (e.g. Frontline) is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and confidentiality.
