Charter Fleet Management oversees the post-fixture operations of chartered vessels, ensuring smooth operations throughout the chartering lifecycle, the fulfillment of the obligations under the Charter Party and the resolution of claims and disputes. This role involves close coordination with various external and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Operational Coordination
- Arrange Delivery: Conduct the necessary arrangements to take delivery of newly chartered vessels and ensure that relevant systems are ready
- Minimize Disruptions: Coordinate with owners and internal stakeholders to minimize the impact of unavoidable disruptions, including dry-dockings, maintenance and repairs, hull cleanings and inspections, surveys, and changes in ownership or technical managers
- Stevedore Damages: Monitor, clarify, and settle stevedore damages and support the coordination of the necessary repairs
- Operational Issues and Disputes: Address and resolve any operational issues, disputes and claims that arise during the charter
- Accidents and Emergencies: Engage with relevant parties in case of accidents and emergency cases
- Plan and Arrange Redelivery: Align redelivery plans and conduct the necessary arrangements to redeliver vessels at the end of the charter
Financial Oversight
- Charter Settlements: Oversee hire payments, invoices, deductions and financial settlements
- Off-Hire Claims: Monitor, clarify, and settle off-hire claims
Documentation and Compliance
- Vessel Documentation: Collect and manage all necessary vessel documentation and information to meet the needs of internal parties and relevant regulations
- Charter Party Terms: Ensure all charter party terms are adhered to and communicated effectively
Project Management
- Operational Efficiency: Support projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and performance
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
Stakeholder Communication
- Primary Contact: Act as the primary point of contact for owners, brokers, and internal stakeholders for charter party related matters
- Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with owners to ensure good communication and effective dispute resolution
Qualifications
- Completed Apprenticeship as shipping merchant
- Minimum of 3 years in Chartering, Operations or a similar role within the shipping industry preferred
- Excellent communication skills and high service orientation
- Knowledge of charter party terms and maritime regulations preferred
- Ability to work under pressure and strong multitasking abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Team player with the ability to work independently
- Proficient in English (business level)
