Summary

Basic responsibilities include working closely with the Sales Tax Director to advise on indirect tax matters and assisting in the developments and execution of effective indirect tax strategies, assisting in the identification, development, and support of indirect tax positions, and ensuring the accurate taxation of product and service offerings of Freeman companies. Work in conjunction with sales tax director to manage indirect tax audits.

 

This position will support our Finance team.  It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week.  This position is based out of our North Dallas office in Dallas, TX.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with business teams to provide accurate, timely and strategic indirect tax advice.
  • Perform research and analysis of sales, use, and value added tax laws and regulations.
  • Oversee timely and accurate filing of all indirect tax returns prepared in-house and outsourced.
  • Work in conjunction with sales tax director to manage indirect tax audits.
  • Develop indirect tax operational process improvements, focusing on controls, automation, efficiency, and analytics
  • Partner with sales tax director to ensure the success implementation of all tax related aspects of ERP systems and automated tax engines.
  • Identifying and realizing sales/use tax savings opportunities and exposures.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the taxability matrices for all Freeman companies.
  • Manage outsourced property tax function.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required with Master’s preferred.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • 8 or more years of recent experience with multi-state issues.
  • Multi-state tax audit experience.
  • Experienced team leader.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP & NetSuite a plus), data tools and sales tax automation platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and accounting foundation.
  • Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
