US Cyber Challenge Participants presso Fortinet Federal Inc.

At Fortinet Federal, we look for 4-5 types of capabilities and expertise:

1. Software and hardware product developers – those who design and build our products
2. Systems Engineers – these are individuals that design and architect systems for customers 
3. Sales / Account managers -  these people drive sales and maintain relationships with customers … BUT these are not “used car sales types”  rather, the best sales people have a strong technical background and have a deep understanding of customer cyber requirements.
4. Technical support specialists … these are folks that do troubleshooting and help customers either fix problems or optimize their use of our products.

At Fortinet Federal, many of these roles are staffed by mid-career or senior people with somewhere around 6-10+ years of experience. However, there are several avenues that can be nice entries into a cybersecurity manufacturing company:

• Leverage internships, when available.
• Look at openings in the Tech support organizations – a great way to learn the technology and develop experience
• Finally, look for junior sales, junior system engineering, or inside sales roles.
