Description
The Machine Shop Associate is responsible for general labor tasks that promote efficient production within JW Winco’s machine shop.
A typical day in the life of a Machine Shop Associate might include
- Assist in working from work orders and drawings to modify existing parts or create parts from blank stock per each work order requirement.
- Picking, stocking, and managing raw material inventory.
- Operating manual presses, grinders, tumbler, polisher, saws, and other tools.
- Ensuring that machinery is well maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Optimize machine processes, produce parts accurately and efficiently.
- Understand basic machine functions and effects on machined parts.
- Troubleshoot and correct basic machine issues, tooling, or replacement parts.
- Review set up sheets, drawings, specifications to determine setup procedure, machine sequence and dimensions.
- Complete first piece inspection and use a variety of precision measuring and inspection devices to ensure parts conform to specifications.
- Operate and maintain machine equipment.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of machine shop experience. Vocational training ideal.
- Application of problem-solving skills applicable to various machining operations.
- Proficient with various precision measuring and inspection tools.
- Excellent math skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hands productively.
Physical Demands
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
