We welcome you to join us in our commitment to holistic wellness and personalized medicine.Summary/ObjectiveThe Lead Dispensing Technician plays a key role in supporting pharmacy operations by ensuring accurate and timely dispensing of medications. This position leads and mentors pharmacy technicians, coordinates workflow, and upholds compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in pharmacypractices, and capable of taking initiative in a leadership role while maintaining high standards for patient safety and service.Essential Functions· Oversee daily dispensing activities to ensure accurate and efficient preparation of prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.· Act as the lead point of contact for the technician team; assign tasks, manage workflow, and support team development.· Train, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians to maintain a high-performance team.· Monitor inventory levels, handle stock rotation, and coordinate reordering of medications and supplies.· Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of dispensed medications according to state and federal regulations.· Enforce safety, cleanliness, and compliance with HIPAA, Board of Pharmacy, and company protocols.· Collaborate closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.· Help implement quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to streamline processes.Skills and Attributes· Strong knowledge of dispensing procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.· Excellent organizational and leadership skills.· Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.· Proficient in inventory and dispensing software systems.· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position may oversee the Pharmacy Technician – Fulfillment positions.Work Environment· May involve standing for extended periods and lifting up to [25] lbs.· Exposure to chemicals, medications, or hazardous materials (PPE provided).· Shift work may be required, including evenings or weekends.Physical Demands· Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the day while performing dispensing, inventory, and customer service tasks.· Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, labeling, counting pills, operating dispensing equipment, and opening/closing medication containers.· Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds regularly (e.g., medication bins, boxes of supplies). Occasionally may need to lift heavier items with assistance.· Regularly required to reach overhead or below waist level to retrieve medications or supplies from storage shelves or cabinets.· Ability to read prescription labels, medication names, and fine print on packaging and digital screens; may require close vision and attention to detail for extended periods.· Must be able to hear and understand verbal instructions, phone conversations, and team communications in a potentially noisy environment.Environmental Factors:· Exposure to chemical substances used in medications (protective equipment provided as necessary).· Work is primarily indoors in a well-lit, temperature-controlled pharmacy.· Potential exposure to sharp instruments (e.g., pill counters) and automated dispensing machines.Required Education and Experience· Active Pharmacy Technician Certification and state licensure/registration as required.· Minimum 3 years of experience in a pharmacy technician role, preferably with prior leadership or supervisory experience.· Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, dispensing practices, and third-party billing procedures.· Proficiency with pharmacy management systems.· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.· Ability to manage a team, delegate effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
