The Interventional Radiology (IR) Coordinator assists the department leader in coordinating the clinical and operational functions of the Interventional Radiology department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role facilitates seamless workflow by coordinating procedure scheduling, patient preparation, documentation, and follow-up. Serves as the primary liaison between physicians, nurses, technologists, and administrative staff, the IR Coordinator promotes collaboration, ensures compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards, and supports continuous improvements in patient experience and departmental performance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and optimize daily interventional radiology (IR) procedure schedules in collaboration with radiologists, nursing staff, and referring providers. 
  • Ensure patients are properly prepared for procedures, including lab work, pre-procedure assessments, and consent verification. 
  • Obtain and organize outside imaging studies for radiologist review and protocol development. 
  • Communicate clearly with patients regarding appointments, instructions, and procedural expectations. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination within the IR department. 
  • Monitor and track patient progress through the IR workflow, from referral to post-procedure follow-up. 
  • Facilitate timely communication of results and clinical documentation to referring providers. 
  • Support clinical teams during IR procedures, consistent with licensure, training, and departmental needs. 
  • Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols and patient care pathways with radiologists and leadership. 
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and accrediting standards. 
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, safety reviews, and departmental audits.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
