Job Description:The primary role of a reliability engineer is to evaluate the performance of the maintenance department, focusing on safety, reliability, availability, and maintenance costs. This includes developing, implementing, and managing preventive maintenance programs as well as revising existing maintenance plans. Additionally, the reliability engineer provides technical support and guidance for new projects.
Your tasks
- Implement the maintenance strategy for facilities.
- Oversee and manage the equipment reliability process.
- Update and manage preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and calibrations:
- Regularly review and control maintenance and inspection plans based on criticality analysis, asset classification, and operational needs.
- Review and update maintenance/service contracts with OEMs and service providers.
- Monitor asset performance periodically, analyzing performance losses and assessing the effectiveness of maintenance strategies.
- Conduct regular reviews of maintenance costs to ensure compliance with the maintenance budget.
- Identify and evaluate issues ("bad actors") related to safety, reliability, availability, and maintenance costs.
- Assess spare parts management gaps and develop a spare parts management plan.
- Perform criticality analyses and classification of assets, FMEA studies, maintenance plans, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with individuals across diverse backgrounds, including engineers, technicians, and operators, to foster a proactive reliability culture.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical and operational challenges, improving:
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) of critical equipment
- Develop and implement innovative reliability strategies and ideas.
- Report directly to the Maintenance Manager and serve as their backup when necessary.
- Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Industrial).
- Training in reliability engineering and/or maintenance management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of maintenance contract management and spare parts management.
- Proficiency in maintenance methodologies such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Expertise in root cause analysis techniques (RCA).
- Strong knowledge of reliability tools and extensive understanding of equipment breakdowns.
- Excellent judgment for setting priorities.
- Results-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, solve complex challenges, provide support, and make decisive actions.
- Proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Fluent in English and French.
