Job Description
TITLE: High School Food Service Worker – Fryer
REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service
JOB GOALS:
To expeditiously prepare, cook, display and maintain the food service line. In addition, the food service Worker will prep, serve and clean in the High School lunches daily. Most importantly, always serve the customer with kindness, courtesy and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Prior food service experience within a school setting is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of food ingredients, recipe conversion and portion control.
- Ability to run a deep fryer with accuracy and efficiency.
- General knowledge and ability to utilize a computer and google suite.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Ability and passion to interact positively with children and other staff.
- Available for at least four and a half hours (4.5 hours) every school day.
- Must have reliable transportation to work.
- Must be able to lift up to and including 40 pounds.
- Must be able to perform repetitive work duties.
- Must be able to stand for the entire scheduled shift.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Turn on equipment for lunch service. Clean and sanitize the area.
- Prepare to change the oil on a schedule and strain it as needed.
- Log freezer temps, order needed supplies and food, rotate stock, wipe tables throughout the day.
- Calibrate thermometers and take food temperatures as needed.
- Prepare and cook lunch meals according to schedule.
- Tray and serve items for lunch daily.
- Assist with dishwashing as needed.
- Serve items on the line for service and cook items in between serving times.
- Cover, label, and date leftover items for next day service.
- Wipe tables between lunch and at end of lunch
- Wash hands and follow all sanitation and safety practices set forth by the Allegheny County Health Department.
- Complete item counts to ensure production records can be kept accurately.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Approximately 4.5 hours per day (Monday-Friday 8:15 AM–12:45 PM) / 5 days a week during the school year.
Rate is $14.09 per hour for the probationary period of 45 working days; followed by the regular rate of $17.61 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period
EVALUATION: The Food Service Director will evaluate performance of this job.
