The Central Scheduler (ACS) Opportunity:
The Central Scheduler (Acute Care Services) is responsible for creating, maintaining, and adjusting daily and long-range staffing schedules for 24-hour operations across Acute Care Services programs. This includes residential treatment units, crisis stabilization facilities, inpatient hospital units, and crisis services. The Scheduler ensures appropriate staffing coverage to meet resident and patient care needs, coordinates shift changes, facilitates communication with leadership, and proactively addresses scheduling challenges. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe staffing levels, supporting team communication, and ensuring compliance with organizational scheduling policies and labor regulations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The starting pay range for this role is $17.00 to $18.51 based on education and experience.
- This job is full-time and in person.

- As a full-time employee of NCHC, you would be eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan. It contains elements of both a 401(k) or defined contribution plan and a defined benefit plan. Participating staff contribute 6.95% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!
What Qualifies You:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of relevant scheduling, administrative support, or healthcare experience.
- Familiarity with computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Certificate or degree in a healthcare or administrative field (e.g., CNA, Human Services).
- Three years of relevant scheduling or healthcare experience.
- Proficiency with scheduling software, preferably in healthcare.

What a Central Scheduler for ACS does at NCHC:
- Develops, posts, and maintains staff schedules for 24-hour programs in accordance with department procedures and coverage requirements.
- Updates schedules to reflect time-off requests, shift pickups, holidays, and other adjustments as needed.
- Responds promptly to staffing changes including but not limited to call-ins
- Proactively uses a variety of outreach methods and follow-up with staff until coverage is secured
- Independently manages day-to-day scheduling responsibilities, consulting with Acute Care Leadership on escalated or complex staffing concerns
- Utilizes creative and flexible problem-solving to secure coverage, thinking beyond standard approaches when needed.
- Follows organizational policies, labor guidelines, and scheduling procedures to ensure equitable staffing.
- Maintains timely and transparent communication with Acute Care Leadership regarding scheduling status, trends, and potential staffing risks.
- Schedules training shifts and permanent shifts for new hires into the scheduling software .
- Adjusts templates based on scheduling changes.
- Updates staff schedules and scheduling software as needed to reflect program need per management direction .
- Proficiently uses scheduling software (e.g., OnShift, UKG) and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook) for data entry, updates, and reporting.
- Adheres to scheduled working hours with regular and predictable attendance.
- Assists with the onboarding process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
