- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.
While roster positions do not include benefits, they are often a pathway to full-time, benefited employment with the City. Many of our current full-time employees started in roster positions, and we encourage you to explore this opportunity as a potential first step in your career with us.

- Gain hands-on experience in athletic program management
- Enforcing athletic policies and procedures at various facilities and events
- Preparing and setting up fields and facilities for programs
- Monitoring participant eligibility and maintaining accurate game records (e.g., scoring, time-outs, fouls, game times)
- Ensuring safety by managing crowd control, responding to emergencies, and maintaining clean and secure facilities
- Communicating maintenance or security concerns to supervisors
- Opening and closing facilities and conducting regular site checks during activities
This position is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic knowledge of various sports, including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, kickball, and softball
- Availability to work at least 3 days a week and 2 weekends a month
- Experience in athletic programming (e.g., keeping a scorebook, operating a scoreboard)
- Knowledge of Greensboro Parks and Recreation principles
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Strong ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
