About the Department

The University mission is to establish Colorado State University Pueblo as the people’s university of the southwest United States by 2028.  To support the University mission, the Division of Enrollment Management and Extended Studies will work creatively and diligently to attain optimal enrollments, enhance student development and success, and support the academic units and overall mission of the institution while ensuring seamless systems and positive experiences for our students.  The Office of Admissions at Colorado State University Pueblo will support the University mission and enrollment goals by providing intentional, professional, and attentive service to facilitate recruitment and admissions, with the purpose of attaining students from varying backgrounds who are well-suited to the University.

Position Duties

The Transfer Support and Outreach Coordinator will report to Admissions but also work closely with the Assistant Provost for Student Success and PACK Center in leading the effort to support prospective transfer students via outreach, events, advising, and connection with campus supports for the Transfer Center at Pueblo Community College, the Pikes Peak State College satellite campus, and all other Colorado Community College System (CCCS) schools.  The Coordinator will also be responsible for liaising with staff at CSU Pueblo and CCCS institutions as well as tracking and reporting data of students who engage with transfer centers, CCCS advisors, CSU Pueblo staff, or otherwise who demonstrate interest in the transfer process

Primary Duties
Transfer Student Support Activities: 

  • Collaborate with CSU Pueblo PACK Center and Admissions as well as community college advising and student support to engage potential transfer students and facilitate their access to information and next steps. Works cooperatively with departments across both campuses on issues related to transfer students and initiatives.
  • Review and advocate for updates and renewals of transfer agreements between CSU Pueblo and the CCCS in collaboration with the Associate Provost 
  • Execute events, initiatives, and activities to facilitate transfer students through appropriate steps of application, scholarship identification, event attendance, advising, and cross-campus connection. Develops and updates transfer outreach materials in Spanish and English.
  • Provide transfer program and processing dates, critical academic information, and ensures seamless online and technological onboarding experience, working to continually improve the transfer process. 
  • Build relationships with community college faculty and staff to ensure students can get referred and connected effectively with timely information to appropriate staff advisors, faculty advisors, and other key CSU Pueblo contacts.

Advising and Case Management
  • Maintain broad familiarity with degree programs at CSU Pueblo and provides the crucial conduit of connecting transfer students to either their staff advisor (typically under 60 credits) or department faculty advisor (typically over 60 credits).
  • Advise prospective transfer students on courses and degree progress. Helps students in one-on-one meetings to select and register for university classes. 
  • Monitor, foster relationships with, and maintain a caseload of new and potential transfer students. Works with new transfer students to ensure a smooth transition to university. Conduct individualized follow-up sessions to provide support to students.
  • Create and present workshops about transfer opportunities, scholarships, and academic advising. Meets individually and in groups with students to answer questions. 
  • Assist students in connecting with departments on campus including the academic department of their major and student support services.
  • Track student admission progress. Utilizes Slate to track and help move transfer students through the admissions funnel.  

Liaison:
  • Work closely with academic departments and faculty advisors to coordinate visits and target outreach events.  
  • Work individually with faculty and staff from appropriate offices to ensure that related academic questions or problems experienced by caseload of students and prospective students are satisfactorily answered and resolved.

Outreach:
  • Attend off-campus outreach events at local community colleges and conduct educational presentations in regional educational institutions, including travel to neighboring states.  
  • Develop best practices for transfer processes based on student and staff feedback and make recommendations for potential similar endeavors based on work with other institutions.
Data Collection:
  • Collect both quantitative and qualitative data related to each student, major, and caseload. Generate reports based on collected data.
  • Contribute to end-of-semester and annual reports on student success, persistence, and retention.


Ancillary Duties
Other duties as assigned (i.e. serves on university committees as necessary).

Salary Range
$42,000 - $53,000 annually

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution
  • Strong written communication skills 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish  
  • Experience in a position or activity that required strong verbal communication skills including public speaking
  • Experience in a position or activity that required relationship building skills



Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited four-year institution in education, communications, psychology, marketing, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment and with population of students reflective of the CSU Pueblo community.  
  • Event planning, operations, and execution experience
  • Experience advising at an institution of higher education
  • Experience with financial aid and student loans
  • Experience with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Experience in public speaking, giving presentations, or conducting training for groups
  • Experience gathering data and generating reports
