YOUR TASKS

The Unit for Translational Research in Oncology, headed by Prof. Steven Goossens, has a vacancy for motivated research associate to join our international team within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ghent University. 
The applicant should be highly motivated and passionate about research with a strong interest in drug discovery and development. It is expected that the successful candidate individually designs, implements, and evaluates experimental results. You will be responsible for designing novel tools and technologies to identify, validate and optimize small molecules compounds to target transcription factors in acute leukemia. The research will be performed as part of a multidisciplinary consortium (TaTFAL) including experts in molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, structural biology and with strong interaction with industrial partners and clinicians. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

•    You hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences
•    Expertise with the assay development and functional studies using in vitro and in vivo preclinical leukemia models; including cell lines, genetically modified spontaneous mouse models (GEMM) and patient-derived xenograft models.
•    Expertise with the use of viral vector systems 
•    Expertise with CRISPR-CAS9 technology
•    Expertise with expression analysis; including qRT-PCR and Western blotting
•    Expertise with flow cytometry and FACS sorting
•    A strong interest in translational oncology, more specifically in leukemia research
•    Strong work ethics; able to work both independently and as part of a team
•    Good communication skills in English 

 

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

•    We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of two years. 
•    Your contract will start on 1/11/2025 at the earliest.
•    Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
