Advisor, Finance and Accounting (General Accounting & Taxes) presso Orientalbank

The Advisor, Finance and Accounting lead data and financial analysis within the general accounting unit to ensure accurate profitability assessments and fund transfer pricing accounting. Serve as a key liaison between finance digitalization and FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis), translating financial insights into automated solutions that enhance efficiency. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and drive business growth. This position works hybrid and is based in San Juan, PR.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Play a critical role in managing financial accounting data, conducting profitability accounting analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of fund transfer pricing accounting. 
• Serve as a liaison between finance digitalization and FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis), transforming financial insights into automated solutions that enhance efficiency. 
• Perform in-depth financial analyses to drive strategic decision-making and support business growth while maintaining strong financial governance. 
• Consolidate and analyze financial profitability accounting data while aligning insights with the company’s financial goals and standing. Prepare and deliver presentations of analysis results and actionable insights to finance leadership for execution. 
• Oversee fund transfer pricing accounting to maintain financial integrity and reporting accuracy. 
• Explore financial data sources and connections, identify necessary enhancements, and improve data quality through standardization. 
• Discover and implement automation opportunities that streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. 
• Develop strong relationships with business units to understand operations and execute projects that enhance operational efficiencies and financial visibility. Support general accounting and tax functions as required, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. 
• Identify cost-cutting measures and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
• Assist with budgeting responsibilities assigned to the accounting unit, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields required. Master’s degree is highly desirable.  CPA certification is highly desirable.
• Five (5) years of experience in finance, accounting, and data analysis, candidates for this role should possess strong expertise in financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax compliance. 
• Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Fully Bilingual - English and Spanish (written and verbal) required.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and other business applications required.  Knowledge of Power BI and Workday is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals.
• Strategic thinker who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights and drive efficiency through automation. 
• Excellent communications skills with ability to interact effectively with multiple levels across and outside the organization
