ABOUT THE ROLE
SSL has an immediate opening for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Insurance Accounting team. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Insurance Accounting Manager and work closely with colleagues across the Finance team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a solid foundation in accounting practices and procedures. This is a great opportunity to develop technical skills in insurance accounting while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Prepare and submit journal entries and assist with monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for multiple insurance entities.
- Assist with review and preparation of multiple types of tax payments according to filing deadlines.
- Assist with quarterly and annual statutory filings.
- Assist with Unclaimed Property reporting and timely filings
- Assist other departments to resolve bank items, positive pay exceptions, produce pay runs, and other outstanding items.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in insurance or financial services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written forms.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse team members from across the organization.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, opportunity-rich environment.
