Job Title: Academics Coordinator

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to:    Assigned Director

Pay Grade: AP-4 

Scale Dept./School: Central Office

 

Primary Purpose: 

The Academic Coordinator provides leadership and support to campuses and district teams in the implementation of effective instructional practices, MTSS framework, and a balanced assessment system. This role is responsible for ensuring curriculum alignment, analyzing student and district-wide data to guide decision-making, supporting professional learning, and promoting continuous academic growth and accountability across all grade levels and content areas.

 

Qualifications: Education/Certification: 

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree, Subject Area/Grade Level Certification 
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree 
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

 

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

 

  • Deep understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks, including interventions, progress monitoring, and data-based decision making.

  • Expertise in curriculum development, alignment, and standards-based instruction across grade levels and content areas.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional best practices, including differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and strategies for diverse learners.

  • Proficiency in assessment systems, including formative, summative, benchmark, and diagnostic assessments.

 

  • Knowledge of balanced assessment systems to monitor growth, evaluate program effectiveness, and guide instructional decisions.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret student data to inform instructional planning, interventions, and school-wide improvement initiatives.

  • Understanding of state and federal accountability requirements and experience using data to meet compliance and performance goals.

  • Skilled in designing and delivering professional learning tailored to adult learners

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with teachers, campus leaders, and district staff.

  • Experience with educational technology and data management tools to track student progress and inform instruction.

  • Ability to lead instructional initiatives, provide coaching, and support implementation of research-based strategies.

  • Capacity to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making within teams using evidence-based practices.

 

  • Ability to coordinate district functions

 

  • Knowledge of program evaluation and department action planning processes to restructure, redesign, and realign programs

 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 

 

Experience:  

  • 3 years of experience with curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties - Instructional and Program Management 

  • Directs and assists with managing programs and services to meet student needs 
  • Ensures that student progress is evaluated and/or communicated on a systematic basis and that findings are used for improvement
  • Ensures program models are equitable and accessible to all populations of students
  • Ensures technology is used in the teaching-learning processes
  • Plans the time, resources, and materials to support assigned personnel
  • Provides leadership in the formulation and implementation of contracts
  • Ensures curriculum development and renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs and state mandates
  • Provides professional learning in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and compliance
  • Works with all Division of Academics units to coordinate programs and services 
  • Identify ways students can achieve ‘Mastery’ and support teachers in delivering this

 

Monitoring Programs 

  • Organizes timelines required by law for all programs involved
  • Ensures all professional learning identified meets state guidelines
  • Models instructional best-practices, created guidelines, and monitors implementation to ensure student success 
  • Leads a team in the creation of district assessments to monitor student progress and drive instructional decisions
  • Supports campus testing for all subject area programs

 

Policy, Reports, and Law 

  • Recommends and writes policies to improve services 
  • Implements policies established by federal and state law, the SBOE rules, and local Board policy 
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all reports and documents required
  • Maintains and updates subject area administrative procedures and policies

 

Budget and Inventory 

  • Administers the department budget and ensures all activities are cost effective and funds are managed prudently
  • Compiles budgets and cost estimates on program needs assessments
  • Maintains a current inventory and recommends replacement and disposal of materials and equipment

 

Communication and Community Relations 

  • Serves as District liaison to community and educational agencies
  • Participates in professional organizations
  • Articulates the District’s mission and goals to the community
  • Demonstrates awareness of District/community needs and subject area initiatives in place to meet those needs
  • Encourages community and parent involvement

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) 

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional district-wide and statewide travel 

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
