MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Position Description
The Maintenance Manager will be a skilled and proactive leader in our facility’s maintenance operations and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. This role combines hands-on technical support and administrative oversight; you will implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs, manage equipment projects, and ensure facility upkeep for long-term efficiency and cost control; collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards, including OSHA, FDA, and GMP requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The following duties are normal for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.)
- Implements and maintains a preventive maintenance program for all equipment
- Perform skilled maintenance tasks on production equipment and on building/property
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety, and other company programs and procedures
- Assist with training of plant employees in proper and safe equipment operation and general safety protocols
- Maintains interior/exterior building structures for longer asset life, including, but not limited to painting and carpentry, snow/ice removal
- Hire and oversee outside contractors and service providers as appropriate
- Understands and ensures compliance with local, county, and state health, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, wastewater, water quality, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other government agency codes and regulations
- Assists in inspections and audits by local, county, and state health departments; ensures compliance with policies and regulations formulated by these organizations as they relate to our facility
- Manages maintenance activities within budget
- Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a supervisor immediately
- Maintain accurate records for parts, repairs, schedules as needed
- Proper use of PPE at all times
- Responsible to enforce safety protocols
- Understand all production operator tasks; may assist in production
- Some janitorial duties
- Use of forklift as needed
- Other duties as needed and/or assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing (food manufacturing preferred)
- Knowledge of all basic maintenance tasks relating to electrical, fabrication, plumbing, and welding
- Knowledge of all proper and safe maintenance operations
- Experience with sourcing and interacting with contractors
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail
- Initiative and ability to work independently and without direct supervision
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions
- Computer skills including email, spreadsheets and documents
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to interact and communicate well with all employees and contractors
- Forklift experience or ability to learn
Physical Demands:
- Standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Push or pull up to 160 lbs
- Repetitive bending, lifting, and hand/arm movements. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools and controls
- May be required to work a weekend and or evening shift
