****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai‘i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative,  professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not  eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions:  Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin October 2025 or soon thereafter.  Not to exceed 89 days and offers no benefits.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Prepare and coordinate statewide and mainland travel for the department, including travel completion documents. Ensure all University policies are met and followed. This will include booking of travel, payment, and processing receipts.
  2. Manage and ensure promotion through various media outlets, including newspaper, radio, web, and social media.
  3. Organize and compile course evaluations.
  4. Process mileage reimbursement, following departmental, University, and federal guidelines.
  5. Process fiscal documents including purchase orders, travel and personal reimbursements ensuring conformity with University and State fiscal policies and procedures and propriety of expenditures.
  6. Supervise student workers.
  7. Gather, compile, and analyze data regarding student enrollment and Felix stipend program participation.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Education, Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional work experience for office or operations management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently.
  3. Demonstrates ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  4. Demonstrates exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and departments.
  6. Available to work evenings and weekends (up to 4x per semester).
