About the Job
Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is looking to hire a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to serve as a Patient Care Advocate. This unique role supports communication between our doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service team to ensure seamless patient care and a positive client experience.
You’ll act as a liaison between clients and our medical teams, assist with patient follow-up, and help guide clients through care decisions — all within a fast-paced general practice and emergency hospital that values teamwork and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
• Complete critical follow-up calls and assist in identifying which cases require escalated communication
• Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pets, including normal diagnostic results
• Assist in filtering and translating medical notes and updates from doctors for client communication
• Understand and relay hospital protocols, common medication side effects, treatment plans, and frequently used products
• Support doctors in delivering care updates when they are unavailable
• Navigate EMRs to guide clients through next steps in care
• Make triage decisions quickly and appropriately in urgent or complex situations
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry animals or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
• Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, and bending for extended periods
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on department needs
Qualifications
Required:
• 2+ years of experience working in veterinary medicine (formal employment, not including pet sitting or volunteering)
• Strong communication skills with a passion for client education and support
• Proficient with electronic medical records and/or comfortable learning new systems
Preferred:
• CVT or VTS certification
• Experience using Cubex systems
• Previous experience in a client-facing veterinary support role
