About the Senior Director of Product, Personalization & Member Experience at Headspace:

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Product – Personalization & Member Experience to lead our efforts in creating deeply personalized, seamless, and engaging experiences for our members. This role is critical to shaping how individuals discover, interact with, and benefit from our products. You will set the product strategy for personalization, oversee end-to-end member journeys, and ensure every touchpoint drives measurable impact on engagement, retention, and satisfaction.

As a senior product leader, you will be responsible for building and scaling personalization systems that understand and adapt to member needs, while also driving consistency and delight across the overall member experience. This position requires a blend of product strategy, data-driven decision-making, and strong cross-functional leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Define and lead the personalization strategy: Develop and own the roadmap for delivering intelligent, adaptive, and personalized member experiences across platforms, with a willingness to get deep into the details and zoom in and out.

  • Champion the member journey: Map, evaluate, and optimize every touchpoint in the member lifecycle, ensuring experiences are cohesive, intuitive, and impactful.

  • Partner cross-functionally: Collaborate with engineering, data science, design, marketing, and operations to deliver scalable personalization solutions and outstanding member experiences.

  • Leverage data & insights: Use behavioral, demographic, and contextual data to create more relevant and timely recommendations that drive engagement and satisfaction.

  • Balance innovation and responsibility: Drive cutting-edge personalization while ensuring ethical data use, transparency, and respect for member trust.

  • Measure and optimize: Define success metrics, run experiments, and iterate based on insights to continuously enhance personalization and member experience.

  • Inspire and lead teams: Manage and mentor product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

  • Influence the company direction: Act as a key voice in shaping the broader product strategy and ensuring member-centricity is at the heart of all initiatives.

What You Will Bring

Required Skills:

  • Extensive product leadership experience: 12+ years in product management, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles driving personalization, consumer experience, or data-driven products at scale.

  • Deep expertise in personalization systems: Strong understanding of recommendation engines, data pipelines, machine learning applications, and experimentation frameworks.

  • Proven ability to scale: Track record of building personalization platforms and experiences that serve millions of users.

  • Customer-first mindset: Demonstrated ability to translate member insights into compelling product features and experiences.

  • Analytical and data-driven: Strong ability to define metrics, interpret complex data, and make informed trade-offs.

  • Cross-functional leadership: Skilled at working across engineering, design, data, and marketing to align strategies and deliver impact.

  • Executional excellence: Proven success in driving strategy through execution, from vision to launch to optimization.

  • Inspirational leadership: Ability to mentor, coach, and grow product talent while fostering a strong culture of collaboration and innovation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the digital health is preferred, especially where science, behavior change, and technology intersect

As Senior Director of Product – Personalization & Member Experience, you will directly shape how members engage with and find value in our products. Your leadership will:

  • Drive higher engagement and retention by ensuring every member interaction feels relevant, supportive, and meaningful.

  • Enable personalized pathways to success, helping members achieve their goals faster and with greater satisfaction.

  • Establish the foundation for data-driven decision-making and experimentation, creating scalable frameworks for long-term personalization.

  • Position the organization as a category leader in member experience, setting new standards for personalization in the industry.

Location:

We are currently hiring this role remotely in the US and Hybrid for San Francisco (SF) and Los Angeles (LA). Candidates must permanently reside in the US full-time.
For candidates with a primary residence in the greater SF and LA areas, this role will follow our hybrid model. You’ll work 3 days per week from our office, allowing for impactful in-office collaboration and connection, while enjoying the flexibility of remote work for the rest of the week. Your recruiter will share more details about our hybrid model. 

Pay & Benefits:

The anticipated new hire base salary range for this full-time position is $205,200-$327,750 + equity + benefits.  

Our salary ranges are based on the job, level, and location, and reflect the lowest to highest geographic markets where we are hiring for this role within the United States. Within this range, individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s location as well as a range of factors including but not limited to: unique relevant experience, job-related skills, and education or training.
