Brown Medicine is a large non-profit, academic, multi-specialty medical group in Rhode Island with approximately 200 physicians. We provide primary care, specialty outpatient and inpatient services in multiple practices throughout the diverse state of Rhode Island. Brown Medicine physicians also lead many inpatient medical services at both Rhode Island and The Miriam Hospitals, enabling comprehensive and coordinated care for our patients. Brown Medicine is an affiliated entity of the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
Division: Pulmonary/Critical Care
NP/PA will provide the following services. These services may be modified from time to time based upon the Division Director’s need for the Division.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive, team-based care to patients admitted to the Rhode Island Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and for patients on the Critical Care Consult service.
- Responsible for admission H & Ps, initial consultation notes, daily progress notes, orders, procedures (and all matters of direct patient care).
- Works under the direct supervision of the attending physicians from the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, as well as the Critical Care Fellows and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows from RIH and TMH, while on duty in the MICU and on the Critical Care Consult service.
- Work along with interns or residents from the Brown University Internal Medicine Residency Program to coordinate care.
- Responsible for ensuring good communication with patient’s primary care team/provider throughout our services.
- Work within and be responsible to the Division Director, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as determined by the Division Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
- Other duties as assigned by Division Director.
Requirements:
- RI licensure required.
- Critical Care experience a plus.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience with EMR (Epic) preferred.
Educational requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited NP/PA program

- Permanent- we are seeking a full time APP for the PCCSM.
- Per Diem - if you are interested in working per diem, please reach out.
- Shifts - 14 shifts/month. 7 shifts in the MICU and 7 shifts on the Critical Care Consult service
- Shift hours - MICU 7a-7p; Critical Care Consult service 8a-5p.
