About the Department
Under general supervision of the Chief Technology Officer, position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development and support of the network and enterprise systems which will include the research, installation, analysis, security, maintenance and documentation of the network and computing platforms. This is a cross-functional position that will participate in the planning, deployment, security, support, analysis, documentation, and maintenance of the technical infrastructure including servers and desktop functions as related to the network.
Position Duties
Plan, research, review, recommend and implement expansions for Local (LAN) and Wide (WAN) area networks to include inter- and intra- campus communications systems for data, video, voice and wireless communications.
Evaluate enterprise networking components and infrastructure and develop detailed analysis reports and recommendations for network and data communications systems.
Perform communication and networking LAN/WAN systems analysis and design planning for integration of new and existing computer/information systems in collaboration with the Network Administrator, Network Supervisor and other technical staff.
Evaluate customer requests or projects; analyze requirements and pertinent technical information to develop and implement quality, cost-effective solutions. Provide written and verbal customer relations communications to customers on status of requests.
Perform planning, deployment, security, support, analysis, documentation, and maintenance of technical infrastructure and servers responsible for services including email, Web, hosting, LAN, data processing, applications, application and web development, and terminal services.
Configure, test and maintain LAN/WAN configurations including TCP/IP, protocol, switches, routers, wireless, LAN interface cards, and other LAN/WAN interconnect equipment in collaboration with the Network Administrator, Network Supervisor and other technical staff.
Develop and maintain network documentation.
Participate in set-up, monitoring and maintenance of selected network monitoring systems to assure highest possible levels of network "uptime", maximize network throughout, and assist technical support personnel in quickly isolating any outages.
Coordinate and provide technical direction, technical support and training to appropriate external and internal technical and administrative staff.
Analyze and participate in the development of security standardization and implementation of security controls for LAN/WAN and attached systems.
Coordinate network system changes with appropriate support staff to assure uninterrupted computer services to the organization and its customers.
Participate in the development and enforcement of communications and networking systems, desktop, server and other network device standards and policies for connected computing environments.
Participate in the development and implementation of enterprise-wide short and long range communications and networking strategies.
Prepare necessary records for departmental support.
Provide budget preparation assistance regarding network and systems.
Research, review and incorporate trends, innovations and practices in both microcomputer and networking technology.
Travel to work sites, training classes and conferences.
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in computer science/information system technology or a related field. Experience may be substituted on a two-year of additional work experience for each one year of academic matriculation.
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience with responsibility for organization-wide information systems management and infrastructure. Three of these years should include supervisory-level responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, development and support of the network and enterprise systems.
Desirable Qualifications: A minimum of three years experience with HP Aruba, Cisco, and Ruckus networking equipment; knowledge of SIP, VoIP, Veeam and Barracuda Backup systems, Palo Alto Firewalls, Linux, MS Exchange Server in Office 365, MS SQL Server, Google Apps Admin Console, VMware vCenter, and the SCCM suite. Experience in an educational setting is desirable particularly California (K-12) schools.
