At Rheem, we are looking for a Sustainability Intern - Data Analysis with core data science, environmental science and/or engineering competencies and excellent organizational skills to support our global sustainability initiative. The sustainability intern is responsible for supporting the Corporate Sustainability team in achieving key department objectives (improving sustainability through product innovation, process improvements and people engagement). You will be guided and mentored throughout inspiring tasks and projects and encouraged to add new ideas and value to the business.

This position exposes the recent B.S. graduate or student to have a lasting impact on long-term sustainability goals, including but not limited to carbon reduction projects, zero-waste to landfill efforts and sustainable product innovation and benchmarking. Under this initiative the student will be exposed to multiple projects involving automation of reporting metrics, developing new KPI’s by understanding the business and advancing efforts to drive sustainability as a core focus of the business.

This role serves our Enterprise division with Hybrid flexibility, working from the office 4 days a week onsite in Atlanta, GA. The start date for this position will be in 2026 with a flexible end date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, analysis and calculations for environmental improvements, related to Enterprise Sustainability Goals with focus on Product, Packaging and Process data.
  • Assist with Environmental Management System topics (documentation updates, auditing, utilities data analysis)
  • Development of tools (ex. Power BI or Excel macro based) to help optimize data management and reporting.
  • Data management in internal reporting software
  • Performing in-depth analysis of energy efficiency savings and emissions reductions using spreadsheets, databases, and custom programming 
  • Liaise with various functional representatives to facilitate strategic and actionable sustainability projects
  • Work with various stakeholders in the organization to develop processes that will drive improvements needed to close any identified sustainability-related gaps.
  • Analyze and present sustainability-related industry, economic, technological and competitor trends and to provide recommendations regarding Rheem’s sustainability strategy
  • Provide regular update reports for the Sustainability team and Leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or Senior year) in Environmental Data Science, Data Science, Environmental Science or relevant Engineering program
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week) (preferred) or part-time (20+ hours / week) 
  • Microsoft Office (experience with advanced functions: VLOOKUP, macros, etc. in excel preferred, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Power BI for building database and data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Strong statistical skills as applied to environmental database management 
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
