Who are we looking for?
We are currently seeking an LVN to provide clinical support to healthcare providers, patients and their families during Onboarding, Launch, and Food Challenge Visits. This position involves assisting providers by ensuring an organized patient flow, preparing examination rooms, delivering accurate diagnoses, completing office orders, handling prescription requests, and preparing charts for all patient visits. The LVN will conduct all in-office procedures and manage precise in-room and take-home dosing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Clinical Assistance
Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, stocked, and ready to welcome each patient
Provide an initial nursing evaluation; take and record vital signs, medical history, medications, and answer questionnaires as needed.
Administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications as directed by the provider.
Exercise patients after challenge, or coordinate with MA team
Verify patient charts with the Master Dosing List at least 24-hour prior to the visit and notify Clinic Manager and scheduling provider of any inconsistencies
Assist in feeding patients during food challenges allowing providers to spend time with patients that are of higher risk
Execute and read Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), Exhaled Nitric Oxide (eNO) Tests, Skin Tests, Patch Placements, and electrocardiogram (EKG) tests.
Assist providers with clinic flow so patient appointments run on time
Provide patient education and assist with patient inquiries such as preparation of home treatment foods, tips for food fatigue, TIP treatment protocols to ensure at home dosing safety, and timing of ingestion of different foods
Escalate questions outside of knowledge base to a provider
Provide, review, and confirm discharge instructions
Ensure accurate in-clinic and take-home dosing and request additional doses as needed
Provide cross coverage coverage for medical assistants as needed based on staffing needs
Communication
Interact professionally and empathetically with patients and their families
Relay relevant information professionally to patients, providers, and team members regarding changes in patient care and/or food dosing
Communicate effectively to patients, families, visitors, and leadership
Communicate with areas that impact clinic operations (Food Lab, Diagnostic Lab, Data Team, etc.)
Communicate with the front office team room availability to ensure rooms are turned over promptly
Communicate with all team members to enforce effective workflows and gaps/inefficiencies in workflows or when safety concerns are identified.
Compliance and Administrative Tasks
Document patient interactions accurately
Report weekly on the number of reactions (level 1 - 4)
Resolve or action assigned tickets within 3 business days
Maintain at least 2 weeks of in-clinic and take-home doses
Verify receipt of clinic doses, report weekly on missing doses and missing patches
Complete prescription requests and refills as needed including prescriptions needing prior authorization
Look for areas of opportunity and communicate these to leadership
Complete and maintain back-office/LVN skills and performance competencies
Follow established healthcare laws, regulations, and safety protocols
Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean working environment.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of California
2+ years experience in medical assistant or other relevant experience in a healthcare/clinic setting
Current BLS certification
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-up
Team Mentality and a positive working attitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent time management skills and self-starter mentality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires strong multi-tasking skills.
Preferred
1 year previous LVN experience
Experience in Allergy/Immunology and Pediatrics
Procedure training/ experience: PFT, ENO, Exercise Stress Test, Skin Prick Tests, Patch Tests, etc.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite or Google Suite
