About the Department

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Dale Robertson Center (DRC) Manager, the DRC Kitchen Manager is responsible for the development, organization and coordination of the senior center lunch program and kitchen maintenance. The nature of the work involves all aspects of the kitchen and food preparation.

Position Duties


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Delivers superior customer service to all that utilize the facility while presenting a professional image and attitude
• Attends all scheduled shifts, trainings, and team meetings on time and prepared
• Responsible for daily food preparation
• Assisting with food donation pick-ups, inventory and distribution
• Writes the monthly menu, collaborating with the DRC Manager or their designee
• Makes approved purchases of all food, keeping the food supplies on budget, and cultivates positive relationships with vendors
• Trains and oversees the Kitchen Assistant(s) in all aspects of kitchen management and delegates tasks as needed
• Follows Health Department guidelines for kitchen cleanliness and product storage
• Monitors inventory levels and performs weekly inventory assessments
• Will be required to organize and maintain storage areas to keep items clean, organized and accessible
• Ensures compliance with safety practices and procedures in accordance with the City and Health Department
• Promotes positive community relationships
• Make recommendations to improve the kitchen whenever possible

Minimum Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 18 years of age or older
• Must have good communication and interpersonal relationship skills
• Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team
• Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for work performed
• Strong cooking abilities and previous relatable experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Good organizational skills, outgoing, detail oriented, professional, and self-motivated
• Previous experience in exercising judgement, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Knowledge of principles of supervision and public relations
• Knowledge of methods and ingredients needed for safe food preparation for large groups of people
• Knowledge of correct safety policies, practices and procedures regarding food preparation and containment
• Knowledge of product ordering systems and proper product inventory systems
• Knowledge of the proper use and handling of chemicals used in cleaning
• Ability to make decisions using good judgment and assume responsibility for their impact
• Ability to recognize malfunctioning equipment and report maintenance issues
• Ability to correctly use kitchen equipment

Other Qualifications


This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
