About the Department
This position will also support the implementation of our new programs such as Department of Labor Strengthening Community Colleges Grant for Manufacturing and Mechatronics. The Program Manager of Trades will also be providing outreach, advising and navigated college system areas that include the following programs Automotive, Welding, Carpentry, Machining & Manufacturing and Mechatronics. This position will also track student’s milestone, oversees stipend program, development of process, administration support to ensuring alignment with Green River College’s mission and goals.
Program Manager is service oriented who is skilled in relationship and partnership building, as holistic advising, managing program activities, supporting Trade’s faculty and staff, and enhancing student success within the Trade’s disciplines.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Position Duties
Customer Service
- Serve as an initial and primary point of contact for potential and current students.
- Provide effective customer service in all modalities.
- Assist with onboarding of new students.
- Provide positive customer service experience to help create and maintain an environment that is respectful, inclusive, and supportive of all identities and backgrounds.
- Welcome and assist students, staff, and visitors in a warm, inclusive, and professional manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general campus resources, services, and procedures.
- Refer students to appropriate departments or professional staff for specialized support.
Outreach Effort
- Partner with local school districts, high schools, and other college programs to support student success.
- Strengthen and maintain relationships with internal and external campus partners to facilitate program coordination, information exchange, and the expansion of partnerships.
- Coordinate community outreach efforts and recruitment of students, including non-traditional students, traditional students, and diverse populations.
- Work with the Financial Aid Department to aid with student assistance.
- Work cooperatively with partner agencies, community organizations, institutions, councils and businesses to recruit students, facilitate student referrals and enrollment, and develop processes to facilitate communication and student success.
- Promote program and division activities on campus and with external organizations; serve as a liaison to other departments and community partners.
Navigation
- Provide daily, consistent, and accessible support to students as they move through the program.
- Develop and lead information, orientation and advising sessions.
- Help students get registered for classes, ensuring that their registration is consistent with their residency status, eligibility, and needs.
- Assist students in navigating other Enrollment Services processes such as dropping and withdrawing from classes and requesting medical withdrawals.
- Create Academic Plans based on a program of study and in accordance with funding requirements.
- Critically assess patterns and student cases.
- Assist students in navigating policies and procedures, inclusive of SAP processes, appeals, petitions, deadlines, and impacts of enrollment changes.
- Guide students in career exploration.
- Participate in cross-campus advising by providing partner advisors relevant, meaningful, and accurate information.
- Conduct unofficial transcript evaluations.
Administrative
- Track student academic milestone.
- Track student contact data for grant reporting purposes.
- Collect, analyze, and report program data to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and support decision-making processes.
- Created marketing material for outreach events.
- Handle in-person and phone interactions with professionalism and a welcoming attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with the equivalence of Associate of Arts plus two years of work experience in Education, Administration or Trades- related setting.
- Demonstrated experience creating, organizing, and presenting workshops.
- Demonstrated outreach efforts in diverse communities.
- Demonstrated ability to create systems for tracking and reporting.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with diverse individuals and groups and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative working relationships and preserve confidentiality.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, time-management, and administrative support skills.
- Demonstrated effective listening and problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to overcoming challenges, and the ability to be a self-starter.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to sit for long periods at a desk/computer workstation.
- Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions.
- Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments.
- Work in an office setting with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to maintain “regular and predictable attendance”
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday.
