About the Department

Provides professional customer service and skilled technical work for performers and customers attending theatrical, music, dance performances, and other events at the Dowd Center Theatre. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Center Theatre Operations Supervisor.
 
This is active work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Position Duties

Assist customers, artist, performers, and staff with daily front of house and production support at the Dowd Center Theatre; ensures a high quality of customer service and safety; assist with front of house and technical responsibilities; fills in during the absence of the Theatre Patron Services Assistant and Technical Specialist. 
Assists with opening and closing procedures for all theatre events. 
Provides assistance to customers with event admissions, rental operations, concessions, catering, and merchandising. 
Assist companies, organizations, and artist with rental, performance, and hospitality needs. 
Handles incoming calls and responds to inquiries as required; ensures that telephone calls are handled professionally and thoroughly and that customers requested are fulfilled. 
Receives and processes customer ticketing orders and payment  transactions; reconciles and balances cash drawer. 
Assist with the load-in and load-out of equipment for performances.
Assist with lighting and audio set up. Performs deck crew responsibilities during events.
Performs custodial duties as needed in the facility.  
Maintains and repairs equipment and inventory. 
Reports safety or repair issues immediately to supervisor. 
Responds to accidents and emergencies in a calm, efficient manner; manages the scene; communicates with emergency responders; completes incident forms. 
Maintains a positive and enthusiastic relationship with customers and performers. 
Performs related tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment; good organizational skills; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to follow work procedures; ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; skilled in the use of a variety of office machines and some typing ability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with associates and the general public.  
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or attending high school and moderate customer service and retail sales experience preferred.

Other Qualifications

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the start of North Carolina.  
Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
