The Middlebury School of Hebrew (SoH) is now accepting applications for Hebrew instructors for summer 2026 courses which will be taught in person on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont.
We have a limited number of openings for new faculty members who have extensive experience teaching both Modern and Biblical Hebrew language and culture. Our programs take place in an immersive linguistic and cultural environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly motivated community that is actively engaged in the teaching and learning of Hebrew, both inside and outside of class, 24/7. In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided. Faculty are responsible to purchase their own insurance policy for the duration of the program. We will reach out to applicants chosen for interviews starting November 1st, 2025.
Please note that all 7 and 3-week program instructors are required to arrive on campus by 4:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 and to teach for the entire duration of their program.
Summer 2026 SoH Faculty Dates:
- 7-week Immersion Program/Biblical Hebrew Track: June 26 - August 14, 2025
- 3-week Immersion/Lifelong Learner Program: June 26 - July 17, 2025
The application deadline is November 1, 2025.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of an M.A. in second language acquisition, culture, literature, or a related field, along with strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of a Hebrew language instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic approach, including advanced technology and computer skills, would be an excellent fit for the SoH.

Application Instructions
Faculty who taught for the SoH in summer 2025, only need to submit an updated CV and a one-page document detailing their language teaching philosophy to apply to teach in summer 2026.
All other applicants should submit a detailed cover letter in Hebrew or English with the following information and attachments:
- Your teaching background, including the number of years you have taught Hebrew, where you have taught and which levels.
- A one-page explanation of your language teaching philosophy and how it would define your teaching at the SoH.
- A list of the SoH language program(s) that you are applying to teach in from the following list:
- 7-week Modern Hebrew
- 7-week Biblical Hebrew
- 3-week Modern Hebrew
- 3-week Modern Hebrew Lifelong Learners track
- A one-page description of how you use technology and authentic materials in the language classroom.
- How you would contribute to our School of Hebrew co-curricular activities (please visit our website for information about our activities).
Also needed are the following documentations with your application:
- A sample syllabus from a previous Hebrew language course you have taught.
- A sample lesson plan.
- A sample video of you teaching.
