JOB TITLE: 

Assistant Manager - Vending Services

JOB PURPOSE:   

Support the operational, personnel, and financial activities of Vending Services. Oversee and perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of vending machines. Assist in managing day-to-day operations to ensure efficient service delivery, equipment functionality, and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with manager to oversee daily operations and maintain operations records.
  • Serve as acting manager during shift coverage or in the absence of the Vending Services Manager to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Assist with management of student employees to include assigning routes and schedules, hiring, discipline, etc.  Ensure accuracy on time entry.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and technical issues with vending machines to ensure timely and effective repairs. Maintain records and monitor vending machines. 
  • Perform parts replacements and make necessary software adjustments to complete vending machine repairs and restore full functionality. Maintain training materials for machine repair procedures.
  • Receive deliveries and oversee staff in the verification and check-in of delivered goods.
  • Provide training on the use of internal software and devices; troubleshoot user issues to ensure effective system utilization.
  • Assist with warehouse operations and inventory management, including tracking and organizing spare parts for vending machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Provide maintenance and technical support for laundry service equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime.
  • Provide customer service in person, over the phone and via email with internal customers and external suppliers and vendors.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • May be required to serve as a backup delivery driver as needed to support operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Associate Degree

Experience:  2 years' work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience with vending machine repair and maintenance, or technical knowledge in refrigeration and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and proper handling procedures for packaged foods and beverages.

Knowledge of:

  • Policies and practices of a wide range of supply vendors.
  • Campus department locations. 
  • Supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Customer service standards and procedures.
  • Product ordering and rotation practices and procedures.
  • Record keeping practices and procedures.
  • Inventory control methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Traffic patterns for vending machine placement.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Standard office and warehouse environment; regular travel throughout campus; occasional operation of University vehicles, may operate vending machines or other warehouse equipment as needed.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work on campus.
