Nemours Children’s Hospital is seeking an ED Patient Access Supervisor (FULL-TIME), to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

The Supervisor position actively assists in the daily operations of all aspects of the Emergency Department Patient Access team which includes registration, admissions, verification, authorization and scheduling. This position ensures that each function is operating in such a manner that productivity, accuracy, customer service skills, and regulatory requirements are maintained at a very high level. Responsibilities include interviewing, training new associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; contributing to performance appraisals; providing timely feedback; addressing customer concerns and resolving problems. This supervisor is responsible for gathering data to ensure accurate demographic and insurance information as well as identifying the need for training or coaching. This position is also accountable for maintaining and managing appropriate staffing and assisting in the development of policies and procedures for continuous improvement.

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Performs daily quality and auditing of associate performance and provides timely feedback and education when necessary. Quantifies findings and presents to management on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for all aspects of staffing including but not limited to: scheduling, timekeeping, time off requests, and daily work assignments.
  • Responsible for providing all new associates with a schedule of educational requirements, orientation and ensuring proper training and completion of competencies.
  • Recommends and implements department procedural changes for continuous improvement and activity
  • Oversees departmental cash control
  • Prepares monthly reports for internal and external management and maintains monthly data for associate scorecards.
  • Assist Manager with personnel actions including, but not limited to:  hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and counseling. Also ensures that all department and organization policies and procedures are followed
  • Assume on-call responsibilities for problem solving, support and if necessary staffing in critical situations
  • Actively participates and develops various department and organization committee meetings.
  • Establishes planned accountability to assure meeting acceptable standard of production and quality while providing constructive feedback during 1x1 monthly performance reviews.
  • Adheres to and models all departmental and organizational policies, procedures and standards of behavior.
  • Perform all functions of access when needed to ensure wait times are kept to a minimum. 
  • Requests and distributes daily QA reports.
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns. 
  • Monitor claim and patient work ques. 
  • Maintain Huddle board and GEMBA news.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma. 
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience required.
  • Associate Degree preferred: applicable experience and/or demonstrated performance is considered.
  • CHAA, CRCR Certifications required or obtained with 18 months of hire date.

Schedule: Night shift. Flexible including nights, weekends, and holidays.
