How You'll Contribute
Contribute to big-picture change: From focused corridor studies to region-shaping initiatives—align projects with funding, work across specialties (operations, safety, economics, curbside management, transportation demand management, transit, design, and more); and co-author competitive grant narratives.
Communicate with impact: Write policies the public can understand, craft memos decisionmakers value, and brief city leaders with clear, actionable insights.
Design smarter systems: Redesign downtown streets for safety and efficiency, develop TDM plans for stadiums and universities, and replace generic ITE rates with context-sensitive models.
Grow with your team: Mentor and be mentored at every stage, provide generous feedback, build tidy, reusable analytics (Python/ArcGIS/Excel) your teammates can carry forward, and balance high-impact work with life outside of it.
Become a trusted advisor: Win repeat business with clients who value deep knowledge of the local communities and insights that help them make complex decisions.
What This Looks Like in Practice
Help a university add 5,000 daily trips with no new parking, just better transit and shuttles.
Develop a TDM plan to influence how attendees travel to an NFL stadium.
Redesign a downtown street system so buses, deliveries, and bikes can safely share space.
Help a city manager weigh clear options and understand which quick-build safety designs perform best and why.
Develop a transit system plan to prioritize transportation investments to meet a set of community approved goals.
Minimum Qualifications
4–10 years in transportation planning or engineering (operations, design, forecasting, policy).
Strong technical, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong curiosity about the world around you.
Project management experience; marketing exposure a plus.
License or certification preferred; GIS helpful.
