The Opportunity

Cochlear is looking for a Manufacturing Manager at our Macquarie University manufacturing facility. In this fantastic role, the Manufacturing Manager will provide daily direction to teams in their production areas, as well as plan the methods and resources for future production needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in collaborating with the Manufacturing Site Manager to ensure production efficiency and resolve production issues.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Management of issues in production area to achieve monthly to annual production targets

  • Implementation and management improvement initiatives, including management of continuous improvement initiatives for production area 

  • Ensure effective use of common and standardised management process such as rotation plans, shift startup/shutdown, shift handover, 5S standards, pillar charts, pin mapping, flexibility matrix etc.

  • Leading and motivating the production area as well as developing capability of Production Trainers, Production Team Leaders and Electronic Assemblers

  • Ensure training metrics are developed and maintained and appropriate development targets are developed for each individual in the team

  • Implementing management standards to ensure work practices are productive and efficient

 

About you:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Manager who will not only lead the team, but also enable them to grow and develop a career at Cochlear. The ideal candidate should have a desire to be a cultural ambassador, to push for change and allow our employees to work in an empowering environment. You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Technical or Manufacturing Management or trade qualifications with demonstrated manufacturing management experience

  • Strong understanding of engineering design and/or manufacturing principles

  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in Cochlear’s Lane Cove and Macquarie university sites
