We are now looking for a Sr Production Engineer for our Operations - Manufacturing. Operations strengthens Kemira’s operational backbone by optimizing supply chain performance and driving cost efficiency. The unit supports business growth across all segments, enabling business units to focus on delivering their commercial strategies. Join us to ensure safety, regulatory, and scheduling compliance while delivering value to our customers and community. The primary focus is to develop & leverage a continuous improvement culture to safely optimize operational efficiency through defining, implementing, and delivering sustainable capacity improvements, cost savings, and quality.
 
This position is located in Bradford, UK.
 
In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Driving manufacturing operations to meet customer and company objectives, ensuring safety, regulatory, and scheduling compliance, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver value, resolving root cause issues related to safety, downtime, reliability, and general operational performance, and implementing solutions using management of change.
  • Reviewing and analyzing data to produce periodic operational reports and leading the month-on-month, year-on-year OEE improvement process on site.
  • Collaborating with Production, Technical & Maintenance teams to optimize quality and reliability, building strong relationships with plant operators, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilizing relevant operational excellence tools (Kaizen, A3, 8 wastes, 5s, etc.) to maximize productivity and throughput, developing and coaching a team in CI/OPEX activities & mindset.
  • Leading or participating in incident investigations and developing recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Developing competence in site operations to take temporary responsibility as Shift Team Leader in exceptional circumstances, including maintaining competence as Incident Controller.
  • Deputizing for the Operations Manager when necessary.

 

What you’ll bring to the team:
  • A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering, providing a strong foundation in technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a strong drive for continuous improvement, always seeking ways to enhance processes and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, fostering a culture of inclusion and teamwork.
  • A commitment to personal development and professional growth, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve operational challenges, ensuring smooth and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma and process control systems, which is highly desirable for driving operational excellence.
  • Experience in performing process hazard analyses (PHA) and risk assessment, contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Proven experience in production management, showcasing the ability to lead and manage manufacturing operations effectively.
