Are you passionate about innovation, science, and the art of creating impactful products? At California Natural Color, we are seeking a dynamic and driven scientist to join our team as a Senior Scientist - Color Product Developer. In this mid-senior R&D role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of natural color solutions for the food and beverage industry, collaborating across departments to deliver exceptional products tailored to customer needs.
You will independently lead research projects, designing and executing experiments that push the boundaries of natural colorant technology. Your expertise will enable you to formulate new products and experimental blends, analyze data, and present technical insights to both internal teams and customers. As a technical resource, you’ll support sales objectives through compelling presentations and data-driven recommendations, while also engaging in literature and market research to identify emerging opportunities.
Collaboration is a central part of this role. You’ll participate in cross-functional planning, contribute to portfolio expansion, and interact directly with customers and strategic partners to deliver tailored solutions. Your role will also involve mentoring junior staff and interns, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science, plus 3 years of laboratory food and beverage research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Enology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Food Processing, or Food Science, plus 1 year of laboratory food and beverage research experience.
- Experience in designing, planning, and executing experiments.
- Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint at a basic level.
- Required to work overtime when necessary.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
