The Opportunity:
 

The Research Projects Administrator post holder will perform a mixture of budget tracking and transactional finance duties to ensure the smooth running of externally funded research projects in the School under the supervision of the Research Projects Coordinator. 

The post holder will review expenditure on research grants in order to reconcile the actual costs incurred against the awarded budget with reference to the terms of the award. 

The post holder will also provide a range of transactional finance support including: standard procurement (requisitions, POs, invoices), processing non-PO payments to partners, and processing non-staff expense claims. These duties will be performed with reference to the University’s policies concerning procurement, travel, and expenses. 

The post holder will provide of a high level of customer service when dealing with enquiries from project leads, internal stakeholders, or external collaborators or suppliers. They will investigate and resolve queries within a timely fashion. Confidence with monitoring budgets, referring to internal policies and/or external award terms, and general administration is expected. 

They will be proactive in advocating a positive, supportive research culture in the School.

  • Aptitude for routine procurement administration. 
  • Awareness of/interest in the management of budgets on externally funded research projects. 
  • Confident communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • A strong sense of shared service delivery and customer-focused approach. 
  • High degree of numeracy and awareness of financial/budget modelling. 
  • Strong time-management skills, with the ability to deal with conflicting demands and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
