JOB SUMMARY:


The Rental Shop Associate is responsible for handling rental, retail, and ticket transactions in a fast-paced ski rental shop environment. This role plays a key part in delivering a positive guest experience by providing efficient and accurate service, fitting rental equipment, and ensuring all shop operations align with Mission Ridge’s service standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable using point-of-sale (POS) systems. This position requires both technical and interpersonal skills to assist guests effectively and contribute to the overall success of daily operations.

Qualifications


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:

  • Transaction Processing: Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit transactions; open and close registers daily.

  • Use of POS System: Operate Entabeni POS software for all sales and rental transactions.

  • Equipment Fitting: Quote rental rates and match guests with appropriate ski or snowboard equipment based on their size and ability level.

  • Guest Information Recording: Utilize touchscreen scanners to record and manage guest data efficiently.

  • Equipment Issuance: Issue rental equipment promptly and accurately, ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.

  • Customer Experience: Maintain a high standard of service and professionalism to ensure each guest has a positive experience in line with Mission Ridge expectations.


SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Reading and Comprehension: Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Written Communication: Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence clearly and accurately.

  • Verbal Communication: Confident in speaking with individuals and groups, including customers and coworkers.

  • Math Proficiency: Able to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Problem-Solving: Apply common sense and sound judgment to interpret and follow instructions in various formats.

  • Situational Adaptability: Handle problems involving several variables in standardized settings with efficiency and calmness.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred, though equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Employees must obtain current ski binding certifications, which will be provided and facilitated by the employer.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, as well as bend, reach, and lift light to moderately heavy objects. Employees must be able to move efficiently within the shop and interact with equipment and technology on a regular basis. Mental focus and clear communication are essential, particularly during busy periods and guest interactions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The Rental Shop Associate primarily works indoors in a busy, guest-facing environment. The pace can be fast, especially during peak hours and weekends. The workspace involves close interaction with coworkers and customers, moderate noise levels, and exposure to winter sports equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

-The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods. 

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: REGULARLY

-Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: FREQUENTLY

-Must be able to write, type, and use phone system
