The Genetics department at BCH is one of the largest pediatric genetics practices in the country. We have experience with both common conditions and very rare conditions affecting just a few hundred children in the world. We specialize in finding answers for complex and hard-to-diagnose genetic conditions, sometimes applying new technologies through our research labs when existing genetic tests are negative or inconclusive.
Our large program includes more than 30 board-certified clinical geneticists, genetic counselors, dieticians, and nursing staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Genetics Clinics at 300 Longwood and 2 Brookline Place.
- Will also float to Allergy, Dermatology, Immunology, and Rheumatology clinical specialties.
- Assisting clinician during examinations (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic).
- Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures.
- Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
- Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
- Obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments and entering related information on appropriate computer systems.
- Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks.
- Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
- Working a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with 1 Saturday morning shift per month.
Education:
- A HS Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of Clinical Assistant experience or related experience.
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
