The Senior Traffic Engineer will lead the design and implementation of engineering transportation projects. will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of traffic engineering projects. This role emphasizes traffic operations, safety, and modeling for both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in traffic impact studies, signal design, capacity analysis, and traffic forecasting.
Duties Include
- Lead the preparation and review of Traffic Impact Analyses, Traffic Operation and Safety Studies, Capacity and Safety Analyses, and Traffic Modeling.
- Perform signal timing/retiming, signal warrant analyses, intersection analyses, roundabout analyses, and turn lane queue evaluations.
- Conduct project traffic forecasting, travel demand modeling, and support DRI reviews and transportation planning studies.
- Utilize modeling tools such as HCS, Synchro, and FSUTMS to develop and interpret traffic scenarios and solutions.
- Oversee and contribute to the creation of technical reports, engineering documents, and support materials.
- Ensure traffic design compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Manage multiple traffic engineering assignments concurrently, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
- Track project schedules, budgets, task assignments, and performance metrics.
- Prepare proposals, cost estimates, scopes of work, and project schedules for new and ongoing traffic engineering engagements.
- Assist in public meeting representation and technical presentations, when applicable.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in traffic engineering principles, safety standards, and traffic control devices.
- Proficiency in technical software such as Synchro, HCS, FSUTMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, AutoCAD, or similar software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with traffic engineering projects
