JOB SUMMARY
Eastside Catholic School is seeking a Middle School Humanities / Religion Teacher Long-Term Substitute from January 5 – June 12, 2026, for a planned faculty leave. This position is a 0.6 FTE, partial-year contracted position. The ideal candidate will commit to our academic goals of developing critical thinking skills while demonstrating excellent communication skills, strong collaborative skills and a commitment to educating the whole student.
Specific Responsibilities
- Establish clear objectives for assigned lessons, learning targets and projects and communicate these to students, following the department’s curriculum
- Collaborate with the Humanities Department and Religion Department to align curriculum
- Plan and teach three periods, including: Humanities 6 and Religion 7 utilizing current pedagogical best practices
- Monitor and assess each student’s development and progress
- Participate in all faculty, department and committee meetings as required
Requirements
- Strong understanding of and experience delivering middle school humanities and religion curriculum
- Experience with differentiated instruction to serve all students
- Proficiency with classroom technology
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain open communication with students and families
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and organizational skills
- A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and a sense of belonging
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in English or a related field, master’s degree preferred
- Experience teaching at the middle school level in Humanities preferred
- Religion Teacher: practicing Catholic committed to working with middle school students in a progressive, faith-based school rooted in the Catholic tradition and social justice
