Senior Software Engineering Manager - Software and Digital Platforms (Medical Devices)

Our Emerging Business Unit combines ADI's sensing expertise with advanced software to improve patient outcomes through connected medical devices. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager - Software and Digital Platforms (Medical Devices) to lead our cloud software development team from Wilmington, MA. This role will manage a team of 12-20 engineers distributed across India and the US, reporting directly to the Director of Software Engineering. You'll be pivotal in driving technical excellence, fostering team growth, and delivering FDA and HIPAA-compliant software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a geographically distributed team of 12-20 software engineers focused on cloud-native application development across India and the US
- Navigate and optimize a complex microservices architecture, making strategic decisions that balance long-term architectural vision with immediate business needs
- Take a holistic view of system scalability, security, and compliance to ensure robust cloud infrastructure that seamlessly integrates across multiple business functions
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions for FDA-regulated medical devices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, QA, Security, and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance and operational excellence
- Own the software development lifecycle, from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and deployment
- Champion agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices across distributed teams
- Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals for both Digital Healthcare and Emerging Business Unit products
- Support regulatory audits and generate documentation required for FDA and international compliance
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence across time zones and cultures
Success Metrics
This role offers significant growth potential, with the opportunity to expand ownership to software delivery for all Emerging Business Unit products, supporting current and future medical device innovations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles
- Proven experience managing distributed teams across multiple geographic locations
- Deep expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices architecture, and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands on programming ability – Typescript/Javascript, SQL, APIs
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, source control (Git), and build systems
- Experience navigating complex system architectures and making strategic technical decisions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across time zones
- Experience working with international and cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare or regulated industries (FDA, medical devices)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, CloudFormation)
- Exposure to IoT and connected device ecosystems
- Knowledge of data privacy and security standards (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Experience with regulatory compliance processes and audit preparation
- Travel Required: Minimal - occasional travel based on business needs

Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
