POSITION OPENING: Varsity Boys Basketball Coach – Inspire and Empower Young Athletes!
AMS 1.0 FTE Math/English Teacher

IN THIS ROLE: Join a passionate team at Avondale High School School where innovation, collaboration, and student-centered learning thrive.

Boys Varsity Basketball Coach

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

JOB GOAL: To provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of basketball and also instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence

Experience Coaching basketball
Experience or plan of building a K-12 basketball program
Knowledge/experience scheduling practices and off season workouts
10-20 hours per week
Teach techniques and fundamentals of sport
Be able to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport
Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport
Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department
Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to team at all times
Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs

RATE OF PAY:

Per Master Agreement

WHAT WE NEED:
1. Valid State Teacher Certification Granted by the Professional Teaching Standards Board.
2. Bachelor’s Degree with major or minor in Mathematics (000EX) and English (000BX)
3. Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in mutual respect.
4. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
5. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Works cooperatively with administrators, student services personnel and teachers, to ensure the delivery of
curriculum
2. Assist students with selection of appropriate academic courses.
3. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to
the extent feasible.
4. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
5. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-
selected professional growth activities.
6. Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
7. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
8. Other duties as assigned by the principal.
