The Role:
The Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of safe and efficient operations in his/her assigned department.
What You’ll Do:
- Integrates organizational change, continuous process improvement, and quality improvement techniques. Provides technical expertise to improve operations.
- Supports development of annual budget. Ensures activities occur to meet those goals and objectives.
- Manages tracking mechanisms to identify downtime conducts and root cause analysis.
- Reviews the process equipment flow and recommends and implements improvements which ensure maximum equipment efficiencies are being met.
- Consistently and effectively communicates and promotes company and plant vision.
- Participates in projects from inception to completion including design, justification, equipment selection, installation, and start up. Assists in developing annual Capital Spending Plan.
- Maintains good employee relations including strong feedback and communication; maintains a fair and consistent approach to recognition, disciplinary action and maintenance of good working relationships with all employees.
- Ensures all corporate and regulatory safety rules and guidelines are followed.
- Ensures all corporate and regulatory quality rules and guidelines are followed including supporting external customer requirements including SQF certification.
- Shall report all food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Actively involved in all phases of CIL activities and procedures for operating personnel.
- Prepares Management Reviews for all direct reports. Develops and implements personal development plans to foster growth of Production Supervisors.
- Encourages and promotes both personal and professional development of subordinates.
- Shall be responsible for enforcing cGMP’s.
- Leads cross-functional, process improvement teams in PDCA and DMAIC methodologies, Root Cause Problem Solving (5W-1H & 5-Why), value stream mapping, A3, 5S, SMED, and error proofing.
- Develops T-Max standards and OEE targets for each packaging line by performing line capability studies, throughput studies, equipment cycle-time analysis, and downtime tracking with an overall goal of identifying and prioritizing areas of opportunity.
- Develops, implements, and sustains a root cause analysis model to be utilized throughout the facility. Leads training of the factory leadership team and shop floor associates in utilizing root cause analysis tools such as: 5W-1H, 6M fishbone analysis, 5-Why, and countermeasure development, implementation, and replication.
- Leads the development of standard work at the leadership & shop floor levels. Improves upon established standards and challenges “status quo” through a collaborative process improvement process.
- Shall be an SQF practitioner.
- Shall cover for Plant Manager & Supervisors in their absence.
- Other work-related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Requires bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience and supervisory experience. Strong working knowledge of food safety procedures and programs; and in-depth knowledge of food processing requirements/standards.
- Requires PC skills including MS office products, e-mail, and AS400. Knowledge of packaging equipment is desired.
- SQF Practitioner or obtain within 6-9 months.
- HACCP certification or obtain within 6-9 months
- Certification in Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing is desired.

Salary Range:
- Starting Salary Range: $133,800-$169,470. This includes the starting base pay range. Exact compensation will vary based on candidates' qualifications, job related knowledge and experience and specific location.
- Variable Pay is included in compensation package yet not part of base salary range.
