Product Owner (DevEx) Description
Beast Code is seeking an experienced Product Owner with a strong technical background in software engineering, DevOps, and developer experience/advocacy. As the Product Owner for Developer Experience, you’ll lead initiatives to optimize the tools, processes, and culture that empower our internal and external developers to do their best work. You’ll coordinate and oversee developer experience programs across multiple projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure engineering teams have the resources they need.
You will serve as the central point of contact between developer experience programs and our software development projects, ensuring that requirements, schedules, and plans are communicated and coordinated across all stakeholders. This role requires technical fluency and leadership skills to facilitate discussions, guide strategy, and mentor junior staff. You’ll report to the Developer Experience Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate developer experience initiatives across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and timelines.
- Develop, document, and refine processes, tools, and best practices that support developer productivity and satisfaction.
- Building trust between infrastructure/platform teams and product developers
- Translate developer frustrations into actionable roadmap items.
- Hosting developer forums, office hours, workshops, or internal "DevX days"
- Oversee the implementation of developer tools, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation standards.
- Track, analyze, and report on developer productivity and satisfaction metrics, recommending improvements.
- Manage feedback channels, triage issues, and work with teams to prioritize and address pain points.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and advocacy.
- Participate in process reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of developer experience methodologies.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or developer experience roles, with at least 1 year in a lead or management position.
- Prior experience in developer advocacy, technical writing, or community management.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, developer tools, and best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in user research and developer journey mapping.
- Experience translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders with empathy and clarity.

Pay Bands:
Product Owner I: $60,900.00 - $76,900.00
Product Owner II: $77,200.00 - $97,500.00
Product Owner III: $94,700.00 - $119,500.00
Product Owner IV: $104,900.00 - $133,500.00
Product Owner V: $124,800.00 - $160,000.00
Product Owner I
Work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.
Product Owner II
Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.
Product Owner III
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.
Product Owner IV
Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role of the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Typically requires 7+ years of related experience.
Product Owner V
Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in “solution” or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Typically requires 10+ years of related experience.
Other Requirements:
- Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations
- Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
