The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides organizational and strategic human resources consulting to specific business units. The HRBP communicates and implements human resources programs, practices and initiatives that contribute to the success of the business and individual team members. Experience in a union environment required.

 

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

 

Responsibilities

· Understands the business unit/organization’s mission, products/services and customers in order to achieve strategic, functional and operational HR alignment and contributes to the development and success of the organization’s objectives and strategies.

· Develops, plans and facilitates appropriate resources to implement human resources strategies that meet the current and future requirements of the organization's business strategy including organizational structure and design, change management, performance management, training and development and other needs as identified by the business.

· Facilitates problem solving and conflict resolution for a wide variety of issues. Recommends and implements solutions to achieve fair and equitable results.

· Ensures management is aware of Company policies and guidelines, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations when making decisions that impact team members.

· Consults with managers to develop/review compensation recommendations and identifies potential problems. Works with managers on resolutions to job evaluation issues to ensure Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance.

· Facilitates management focus on continuous individual and organizational performance improvement and identification of training and development needs.

· Analyzes relevant data (e.g., headcount, open requisition, attrition, payroll) to proactively support the business in achieving their financial goals and business objectives.

· Contributes to the establishment of the business and human resources objectives and strategies as needed. Participates in, or may lead task teams to develop new, or restructure existing, human resources programs, processes, or policies.

· Coordinates closely with HR counterparts on a company-wide basis to ensure consistency and continuity in human resources programs and processes, where applicable.

· May be involved in collective bargaining negotiating and/or contract administration.

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required.

· 10+ years of relevant work experience preferred.

· 8 years of HR generalist experience strongly preferred.

· Experience working in a union environment required.

· HR Certification(s) a plus.

· Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to influence decisions at a senior executive level.

· Strong verbal and written communications/facilitation skills.

· Ability to work in a teaming/collaborative environment.

· Strong problem analysis/solving, organization and time management skills.

· Highly proficient in MS Office and HR related software.

· High level of attention to detail.

· Strong ability to be flexible and adaptable to constant change.

 

Scope:

In addition to daily deliverables, outputs and reporting, also considers and recommends longer term best practices to improve processes based on experience. Accountable for managing ones own time and work flow and may also lead functional project teams. Works independently, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on complex issues. Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services

 

Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are vague and require reasoning to identify root cause. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

 

Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
