Your missions:

As a Principal Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in managing the cost and financial aspects of high-value defence programmes — from bid to completion:

💡 Develop and implement effective estimating processes and techniques
📈 Ensure forecasts for bids and contracts are robust, accurate, and integrated
🤝 Collaborate with Risk, Cost Control, and Scheduling teams for cohesive project delivery

🛠️ Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

✅ Establish and maintain best-practice estimating systems across the portfolio
✅ Standardise approaches across projects and align with Project Controls
✅ Develop Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts
✅ Support bid proposals and contract change estimates
✅ Contribute to Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) development
✅ Coordinate closely with other discipline leads for integrated estimating

Qualifications/Skills to be successful:

✔️ Proven experience as an Estimator in complex project environments
✔️ Solid understanding of Project Controls principles and disciplines
✔️ Experience working on bids, proposals, or large-scale programmes

Permanent Staff or Umbrella Contract position

Hybrid, 2 days per week at Client site in Bristol

Please be aware that many roles at Assystem are subject to both security and export control restrictions. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
