- Create, maintain, track, and interpret scholar data in support of engagement and retention
- Communicate with parents/guardians, students, and staff regarding student progress and program requirements
- Track students who are on-track and off-track for graduation and create a communication procedure for teacher intervention and family support
- Communicate school orientation/onboarding process and procedures to parents/guardians
- Utilize district database to identify scholar needs and monitor scholar progress
- Assist and attend family evening/weekend events and conduct home visits in partnership with school staff
- Collaborate with teacher to ensure students’ coursework are aligned with correct placement with the High School and Beyond Plan
- Assist with attendance data collection and notification process
- Conduct restorative based advisory circles once a week with students and staff
- Proctor and assist in the preparation for state testing
- Outreach in the community to re-engage and retain youth who have not obtained high academic requirements
- Provide first level support to overcome personal, academic and social barriers utilizing school, district and community-based organizations for support
- Assist with academic celebrations and events Provide mentorship for the students and connect them to mentors in the community
- Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position
- Remain current on new developments in the technology hardware and software industry
- Be aware of community supports to eliminate barriers for youth who are disengaged from school
- Obtain a Type 2 Driver’s License
- Develop knowledge of trauma informed practices

POSITION SUMMARY: The Open Doors Advisor supports the activities of the teachers serving scholars in reengagement programs. These activities are directly related to the tracking of student achievement and student data that provides information regarding academic decisions for students. This position works directly with families, the community and teachers in support of scholar’s academic learning plans. This position supports building, district and state initiatives. This position requires high levels of organization, commitment to deadlines, clear communication and collaboration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Associate of Arts degree or two years of college credits in a related field
One year of experience working with K-12 aged students
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication skills to address scholar, parent and community relationships with sensitivity
Demonstrate proficiency level in Microsoft Excel
Available to work some evenings and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree
Three years of school-based experience
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Washington state driver’s license
Type 2 authorization

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard, and occasionally be required to climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 35 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 200 pounds.

This position typically works 190 days per school year with 11 holidays
