Job Title: Welder
Primary Purpose:
Under direct supervision complete arc weld sub-assemblies and assemblies in accordance with company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Arc weld parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and other products for structural projects involving down hand, flat, vertical and horizontal positions.
- Interpret welding symbols from drawings and prints
- Select proper electrodes, set up machines and adjust to meet requirements of the product
- Use hoists to handle materials to and from welding area
- Complete hand bending to fixtures
- Identify parts required and assist fitters in the assembly of the parts.
- Follow procedures in assembling parts in welding jigs and assist in perfecting proper assembly and welding sequences.
- Remove slag and clean work.
- Weld with stick or semi-automatic welding equipment, including gas shielded equipment.
- Report production difficulties to Plant Superintendent.
- Maintains ground clamps and electrode holders.
- Visually check welds and repair defective weld, check work for appearance, cracks, rust, slag, etc.
- Understand all safety procedures. Ensure safe work practices are followed and maintain a safe work environment
- Understand and adhere to all Acrow’s policies and applicable laws
- Travel to other Acrow Locations or Customer Sites as necessary
- Perform other duties as required
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Familiar with AC or DC arc welding and semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Knowledge of gas shield equipment, hoists, burning torches, portable grinders, scaling hammers, fixtures, templates, safety equipment, power and hand tools.
- Sound decision making skills
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a production environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work requires physical effort in the handling of materials and equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- First and Third shift, Monday through Thursday 10 hours per day. Additional hours will be required from time to time.
- All work-related safety gear will be provided by the company
